The Russian Patriarch Kirill felt into an awkward trap recently in Ukraine. Undoubtedly an intelligent visionary personality, Kirill was calling for a strict preservation of the Orthodox church unity and was trying to mend the crack in the Russia-Ukraine relations through appeals to believers of the same religion. Kirill was also praising human virtues and was calling the younger generation to follow true values and withstand consumerism. However, during one of his ceremonies, he was photographed with a Breguet wrist watch (see the Unian photo attached) worth about 30.000 Euros, an immense fortune for many poor Russians and Ukrainians, being an exact manifestation of consumerism and snobbism.
